I just upgraded to the 4500. On the EFIS what does the left knob do? Mine says heading but turning it doesn't change the heading. If I choose heading on the right knob it adjusts the heading.

The left knob should do everything the right joystick does other than pan. Can you select DIM on your left knob and see if it adjusts the backlight dimmer?

I have only heading , course , and one other choice when I push the left knob. No dim appears on the left knob. On the right knob I have dim and all the other choices.

Alan, are you able to adjust the course needle when the course is set to a VOR source?
