Thread: Dual OAT Sensors

    Dual OAT Sensors

I am installing a dual screen / single AHRS AFS-4500 system (EF-4500 and EM-4500) in my RV-7. Normally one OAT sensor would be connected to the EF-4500 main harness. I bought a second OAT sensor with the thought that I might upgrade to a dual AHRS system (EF-4500 and EE-4500) at a later date and it would be much easier to install the OAT sensor now.

Can I connect the second OAT sensor to the EM-4500 main harness and utilize it with my current installation? Do I just configure each screen to use it's own OAT sensor instead of configuring the EM-4500 to get OAT data from the EF-4500?

    Thanks,
    Paul Winkels

Yes, go ahead and connect the second OAT to the second screen wire harness. It won't use it, but if you ever upgrade that EM to an EE, it will use the second OAT already wired. You can't use the OAT on the EM though due to the software configuration.
