I'm in the process of replacing my Gretz pitot with the Dynon Heated Pitot.

According to the installation manual, the status indicator line is open when the pitot heat is applied and goes to ground when the pitot is off.

My personal opinion is that this is backwards, but there's not much I can do about that. I would prefer that the status line go to ground or go high when heat is on. It's going to be off more than on, so I really only what to annunciate when heat is applied.

In hopes of not re-inventing the wheel, what would be the best practice to attach the status line to a 4500 for annunciation on one of the input lines? The manual was very verbose on the options. Can the input annunciate when the circuit is open?
