My oil temp has been fluctuating lately, usually to the low side, down to about 85F. A couple years ago we had a similar problem related to engine grounding but that was solved with a ground jumper to the firewall. That worked well, and the symptoms were different.

Now, oil temp is very erratic--before it just steadily climbed depending on bus voltage. There isn't any correlation to bus voltage or anything else I can see. All the connections are tight. I'm leaning towards a bad sensor. It's 3 years old/~600 hrs.

At first I thought it might be the vernatherm but it drops and climbs really fast, like +/-50F in less than a minute. I think if it were an actual reading it would react slower. The unit is a 3400EE non-S.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dave
