Is a replacement internal back-up battery still available for an AF-4500?
If not, what kind of cells do I need to buy?

The 71,700 Backup Battery goes for $120, and can be order by calling 503-263-0037
See http://www.advanced-flight-systems.c...Backup-Battery
Thanks, Shawn!
I replaced the back-up battery today - was very straight forward - but after installation the screen will not boot. I have changed nothing else apart from the battery. When power is applied nothing happens - just a blank screen. I have a large red 'master caution' light which illuminates, but the screen remains blank.
Can anyone suggest what I could do to investigate the problem?
Peter
I would start by unplugging the battery and see if the EFIS will boot of ship power. After that take a multimeter to the battery and verify that its voltage is a minimum of +5V.
What is the normal lifespan of the backup battery?
How can I tell if it needs to be replaced?
Thanks!
Batteries have a year and cycle lifespan.
CHECK -> MAINT -> ADMIN -> Hold CALIBRATION -> Admin Settings -> Diagnostics -> Battery Test
Once finished re-enter the test page and see how long the battery lasted. A fresh battery can last 1 to 1.5 hours.
Thanks - I'll check that one out this weekend!
Mine's definitely NOT fresh - 31:36 was the duration.
Been in service for 7+ years and about 350 startup cycles. I start my unit prior to engine start and run it on the battery until I get the engine started and have the alternator on line...then I bring up instrumentation on ship's power. I verify fully charged backup battery for the 3400. Lately with the sticking airspeed, it hasn't been shutting down properly. A bunch of full discharge cycles is probably not good for it. Is the 71,700 valid for my 3400 also?
Yes the 71,700 is for all 3000 and 4000 Series EFIS.
