No air on 3400s EMS Sport

I have a 3500s EFIS and a 3400s EMS Sport with the 8. 08. 12- M16 software. I'm just finishing up the electrical system firewall back and testing each unit. I've done some preliminary configuring of both units. Both units are connected with an Ethernet cable. The EFIS or the Six-Pack page really looks great on both units. I have the pitot and static air tubes connected to both units. When I very carefully blow and suck in the pitot and static lines, I get a rise in the airspeed, altimeter, and vertical speed on both units. When I shut the EFIS off, all of the flight instruments on the 3400s EMS Sport are red X-ed out. Back in the beginning, I thought that if the EFIS failed, the EMS Sport would continue to give me airspeed, altimeter, and vertical speed. Is my thinking wrong, or is there some configuring I need to do to make the air work on the EMS Sport by it self? Thanks

Do you have the Airdata configured for internal in the AF-3400 calibration? I suspect that you have it set to RXD and it is getting data from the other screen.
