Thread: Wish List for the AF 4500/3500/3400 series

Audible AOA warnings are already available. At least, I get "angle, angle, push!" in my ears. (and it's not from my Mrs...............)

Size: 38.9 KBTACH] I took this morning in my office. Our EFIS is lousy compared to the AFS - just look at the reflection. What I do like is the vertical speed indication. Note the logarithmic scale and the analog feel to it with the indicator sloping like a VSI needle. Maybe it can be used as an inspiration for the AF 4500 vertical speed scale upgrade!?
Another nice feature is that the vertical speed needle and indication changes from green to amber if you exceed 1000ft/min below 1000 agl - it's a real eye catcher to avoid a CFIT accident

I think the most logical progression for all AFS units were to have some form of communication between my iPad and the EFIS. It's just so much easier for me to change my fight plan in flight with ForeFlight then it is with the Garmin or 4500. And I usually plan my flight before hand on my iPad, get my expected route through ForeFlight, so it would be great just to "push" all that info to the EFIS instead for pushing all those buttons and knobs. I know Aspen has it already and I think it would be great if AFS would have it too.

Seems a lot of people now are using the ipad for preflight planing, myself included. I agree with John that it would sure make adding flight plan information a breeze, if it could be added to the 4500 from an ipad device. I also agree that flight planing on the my 4500 is confusing and cumbersome. If a flight plan could be placed onto the SD card and then uploaded to the 4500 it would sure help. Updating to the 5000 unit is an option for some of these features but a costly one. My thought is, give AFS and Dynon some time and I think we may all be happy. Don't forget, it was not that long ago we used vacuum driven equipment to do the basics of keeping everything right side up. The electronic flight displays are still going through some growing pains and may for some time. It would be nice if all the new bells and whistles from their new systems could be added with a new software upgrade, but thats not possible. Keep up the good work Rob!!!
