ADS600-GB connections to AFS 4500 and AFS 3400.

Hi Rob, I have the 4500 EFIS and a 3400 EM and will be installing the certified NavWorx ADS600-BG. I have an Arinc 429 connected to the EFIS expansion connector for my AF-Pilot auto pilot. Your 4500 manual says I can connect the ADS600-B display to any available AFS serial port. The only serial port with no connection on my 4500 is the GPS Serial #1 RS-232 TXD. Would that work?

The manual also says the Altitude encoder port should connect to the AFS serial port #2. The only #2 serial port with no connection to it, is serial #2 GND.
On my 3400 EM their seems to be another expansion port that has nothing plugged into it. Can this be used?
Can't seem to find information on this 9 pin connector on the back of my 3400 EM.

All of my other serial ports are being used for SL-30, SL-40, Garmin 496, AFS Arinc-429, Garmin 327.

The only serial ports that are fast enough to support the ADS-B unit on a AF-4500 or AF-3400s are #1 and #3. If you have the older non S AF-3400 it will not display ADS-B data. The NavWorx unit needs ICARUS altitude data, EFIS serial port #2 is usually configured to send this to your transponder and you can tie into this signal.

    Hi Rob
Both the 4500 & 3400 are synthetic. So if I understand I can just tap into
The serial port #2 even if my transponder is already using that connection.
Could the 9 pin connector on my synthetic 3400 EM that is not being used
be of any value in the connection of the ADS600-B?

    Thanks
    Don

Yes, you tap into serial port #2 that is sending Altitude data to the transponder.EFIS Main Harness ADS600(-B) P1 EFIS Configuration

    13 Serial #2 TX 7 ICARUS/TRFC

    5 Serial #3 RX 5 ADS-B

    4 Serial #3 TX 24 ADS-B

    21 Serial #3 GND 23 ADS-B
