So if I upgrade does this mean I will get the unit back with all the features I paid for before such as AOA, moving map, EFIS, Engine Monitor etc included in the price?

  3. #3
    Yes, same features

How will my 3400 engine monitor function along with an upgrade to my 4500. Will I need to upgrade my 3400 as well?

The AF-5400T will talk to any of the older systems including the AF-3400

Does the 5400T have any additional serial ports?
If I have GPS in, AFS Transponder, SL-30 or GNC-255, and autopilot out can I also interface with an ATS radio?
Is there any way to free up a serial port?

Rob, I'm sorry for bombarding you with all these questions:

If heard it said that touch screens don't offer the same degree of brightness. Is this the case with the AF 5400t?
Are you envisaging offering European sectionals in the foreseeable future?
What are the functions of the original buttons and knobs?
Are the soft keys along the side customisable?
What are the prospects of offering us European customers a base map with rivers and roads now that you're working with Dynon?
Will the back of the unit look different? (It would be nice to have more clearance)

    Thanks
    Roger

We use a bonded AR coated screen. The AR coated screen has a glossy look and does have some reflections. I think it actually looks brighter than the non touch mat finish. If you don't like the reflections you can us a screen protector from an Ipad on it.

Are you envisaging offering European sectionals in the foreseeable future?
If Seattle avionics starts offering them we will have them for the AF-5000 systems.

What are the functions of the original buttons and knobs?
We are currently working on the button and knob layout. The top level buttons are AP -D-> NRST FPL CHECK

Are the soft keys along the side customisable?
No, currently we don't have any soft keys on the side.

What are the prospects of offering us European customers a base map with rivers and roads now that you're working with Dynon?
We are working using the same map data as Dynon.

Will the back of the unit look different? (It would be nice to have more clearance)
The back is like the AF-5000, it is only about 3 1/2" deep
