Can a software change make it possible to make waypoints in lat/long?

    Hi.

Is it possible to make a software change for you guys at AFS so waypoints can be created in lat/long?
I use that kind of waypoints (user created) much more often than VOR's, NDB's etc.
It seems to me that the joystick on the 4500 can be used to enter numbers and letters (in other words; to create waypoints) the same way the joystick on the Garmin 496 does? Will that function be need "only" a software change or will it need a hardware change as well?

Another question: can the routes be saved? (like the Garmin 496 does) It's a nice feature in case you fly the same route sometime later. That saves alot of "knob-work".

    Thanks.

    Good news!

    Hi Rob.

Thanks for chiming in With the good news! You just saved me the cost and work to install and hook up a Garmin 496 to the 4500!

Hope the SW change also will make it possible to create waypoints directly on the map by placing the cursor on the map and hit "enter" or something similar.
And most important: make it so the user-created waypoints and routes can be saved.

Reason for the request, is that when you fly VFR in Scandinavian airspace (maybe in Europe too), it's often necessary to use waypoints which are not R-Nav Points, VOR's, intersections etc. Those kind of waypoints are mostly positioned around airports and since Scandinavia have large less-populated areas, we often have to make our own waypoints to create the routes we want to fly.

Thanks again. You guys are doing a great job With Your product-line!
