What does the NMEA provide?

Rob,
the Flarm NMEA protocol provides direct traffic information without converting them into Garmin TIS protocol.
The advantage of the Flarm NMEA protocol would be to see more than max 8 traffic signals compared to Garmin TIS.
(Just one aircraft with Transponder will use the max. of 8 Signals showing TIS8 in the screen. During this time no other traffic
can be seen, see picture below.)
the quote in my last post was from Butterfly (they produce the powerflarm).
They said that AFS will support the Flarm protocol soon.
Just curious if this is on your software list.

On my last flight I discovered something interesting:
There was only 1 traffic target on the EFIS screen and Garmin 496,
but they where on opposite direction as you can see on the picture.
As I haven't seen the plane, I can't tell what device is wrong.
During landing I've already seen targets way off the real position, but
could not make a picture of the screens.
Anybody else has the same problem?
Efis sw version: 8.8.12
Powerflarm: 3.31

Rob,
in my last flight I had the above problem again.
I had one traffic target on my efis and my 496
I have seen the target looking out my window.
Problem:
The 496 was right and the efis was wrong. The efis shows the target 180* opposite!!
I use Sw 8.8.25
As both units use the garmin tis protocoll and the 496 is right, there must be something wrong with the efis.
I contacted Joachim Fetzer from Butterfly Avionics and told him to get you a test powerflarm unit.

Maybe it will help if some more people from this list will contact Joachim to make things happen!

Hi Christian
I just sent a mail to Joachim as well. Let's see what his reaction will be.
Cheers
Michael
FYI
I contacted Butterfly Avionics today regarding something else and asked them to send a FLARM to you Rob.
Regarding their information they sent a customers FLARM to you as the customer doesn't need it right now. It should arrive soon.
Regards
Michael
Thanks, we look forward to testing it.

Butterfly Avionics did not send a customer PowerFLARM to Rob. I sent my own and Butterfly (Marc Förderer) promised to assist where they can. I guess it will be up to us to keep this co-operation going and help if Rob gets stuck. Let's hope this is the start of a productive relationship!
Thank you for your kind assistance!
The Powerflarm is a great safety device as you can see all kind of aircrafts with only one device.
ADSB only shows you only commercial aircrafts.
The real danger for me are the Mode C/S aircrafts and gliders.
Once all these sources will be displayed correctly on my Efis screen, my flying is a lot safer.
Looking forward to a software update.
