ADSB Traffic Display

I encountered a "new to me" traffic display and cannot find a definition for it. The ADS-B traffic displayed was surrounded by a flashing yellow square. The info in the square contained the N-number. It was in trail, about 4 nm, and within a couple of hundred feet of my altitude. Not all traffic with N-numbers had a square around it. Anyone know the significance of the square?

It means that the target has not been updated in 10 seconds from the ADS-B ground station.
