    Garmin GPS puck

During a trip to the UK, at the start of the trip home, we got the message on our 4500 “NO GPS”.

I am now in the stage of determining the cause, but I suspect the Garmin GPS puck (with a male d-sub connector), as supplied by AFS.
For testing purposes I would like to hook up a Garmin handheld (I think it is a 395) but its data cable ends in a female connector. Is it possible to make an extension-cable with a male plug, assuming the pin-out of the plugs is the same?

The pin outs on your 395 are most likely not the same, you should be able to connect the 395 TXD wire to the EFIS serial port #4 RXD pin and get the data.
