    Current Sensor Crapped Out

On a recent flight, my hall effect current sensor went from its normal reading of 22 amps to -78 amps IIRC. Hopefully it is the sensor and not the engine monitor itself. How does one go about troubleshooting this failure? I assume that the three wires going to the circuit board are power, ground, and signal return. What voltage is returned at X number of amps? I didn't see anything in the manual regarding theory of operation that might help.

    Thanks,

Zero amps is 1/2 of the input voltage. If it is running on 10 Volts it should be 5V with the engine not running.

OK, so I was finally able to get to this sensor to do some troubleshooting. The signal line was identical to the voltage input, namely +10 volts. If 5 volts corresponds to 0 amps, and 10 volts indicates -80 amps, does zero volts correspond to +80 amps (and 2.5 volts corresponds to 40 amps)?

Have you seen this failure before? Assume that the hall effect coil is bad, there are only a couple of additional components on the board.

I don't remember ever having one go bad.
