XW weather on 3400 and 430W: possible?

    Hi,
I'm sure that there are a few folks out there that have the weather receiver talking to the 3400/3500/4500 AND have a Garmin 430W. Since the garmin will display XM weather, I wonder if the AFS units will stream their weather data to the 430W. If so, how should this be configured, hardware & sofware wise?
    Thanks!

I would say No. The Garmin GNS series (400-530) only displays weather from a Garmin receiver, ie GDL-69.

Having used weather on a 430 before I can tell you I was not super impressed... The resolution on a 430 is not that great to begin with, and the weather navigation (retrieving METAR, TAF, etc) was next to impossible.

Nick is correct. The GNS-430(W) and the AFS screens use two very different types of weather hardware. They are not compatible. You would need a GDL-69(A) to display weather on a GNS-430.

I know the AFS/XM weather works with the 3500 but I heard it does not work that well with the 4500. Is this still the case? We use the 496 for weather now but would love to have the weather displayed on the 4500.

With the current software V7.4.23 MV12, XM Weather does not work. However we do have a new software release that has XM WX working again. The new software will be released very soon.

Depending on where you are located, ADS-B has weather. The hole country should have it within the next couple years and NavWorx is releasing their new unit. I hope AFS will put it in gear and get WX working with their unit.

    XM Weather on the 3400

Does this apply to the 3400 as well? I'm going to test my setup this week and like to know, so I don't waste any time in case it happens not to work on the 3400 with V7.4.23 MV12.
We have the 3400s, just delivered to us a month ago.

Software version V7.4.23 MV12 will NOT display any XM WX info. This is due to a software bug by one of AFS's Vendor's. I was promised that the new software release already has this working correctly and will be released within a few weeks after S&F.
