    Amp reading

    HI Trevor:

I am doing some of the final checks of my 4500/3500 installation on my RV-7 before riveting on the forward top skin. I have spun the engine and I have RPM and oil pressure indications plus all temps are normal and functionally checked. My question is this: is there any way to check the amp reading without the engine running and the alternator on line. I don't think there is but wanted to check with you.

If you wired the current shunt per our diagram, the alternator does indeed need to be online for amperage to indicate on the engine monitor.
