    fluctuating oil temperature reading

It may be helpful to others to report a problem which was nicely diagnosed by Rob Hickman immediately upon my reporting a fluctuating oil temperature indication. After months of normalcy, the oil temp reading (AFS 4500) showed random rapid fluctuation between 176 to 260 degrees F, with all other temps and pressures remaining normal. Rob declared the cause to be a bad engine grounding strap. He was absolutely correct. The strap was floating free, and re-attachment restored entirely normal indications thereafter.
