Dual Screen Data Configuration Question

In the latest AF-3000-4000 System Manual V7.1, on Page 85:

"Dual Screen Data Configuration

Any time engine or EFIS settings are changed you should transfer the files to both screens. One screen can get some of the configuration files from the neighboring screen in the Admin Menu. If both screens are on the Admin Page in the EFIS Calibration menu, select:

14. Request Remote Files

This will force the screen to get the configuration data files from the remote screen for those items that this screen is setup to receive and will reboot with the new files.

If the screen is setup to receive Air Module Data the following files will be transferred:

AIRDATA.AFD Airspeed, Altimeter, System Voltages
AOA.AFC AOA Calibration

If the screen is setup to receive Engine Data the following files will be transferred:

ENGINE.AFD Engine Gauges
TANKS.AFC Engine Gauges

Note: This works on non-S CPU units only. Units with the s-CPU must have the files transferred
manually through Calibration Menu -> Admin Settings -> Transfer Files To/From SD Card"

Can someone provide more detail on how to do this on an s-CPU system with dual screens (EF-4500/EM4500 in my case)? Which files need to be uploaded/downloaded to/from which display?

Paul, to transfer files to the SD card boot into Instrument Calibration (CHECK -> MAINT -> ADMIN -> CALIB). Highlight Admin Settings, press Select. Highlight Transfer Files TO/FROM SD Card, press Select. Rotate the right knob to say BACKUP. Press select. It will then copy all the files to the SD Card. Now insert that card into your other screen and perform the same steps and instead of rotating the knob to say BACKUP, rotate it to say RESTORE. Press Select. It will then copy the files from the SD card to your second unit.

That gets the files from first system to the second. You then need backup the second system and do a restore on the fist to transfer those files.

Why cant we use the inter-system connectivity (ethernet) to transfer files for the S-CPU systems?

Jason, that is not the case. You only need to copy the engine range files from the unit with the engine board to the unit that doesn't have it (since the range files are stored on the unit with the engine board). Copying files from the second back to the first won't do anything.

I understand it is a bit of a pain right now to do this manually. For some reason the software engineers just haven't gotten the network transfer feature working on the new s-cpu software.

If my airdata setup changes on one, then it needs to be updated on the other. No?

That is correct. In the case of airdata, such as Vspeeds, it is probably easier to just go to the same menus in both units and just change the speeds manually in the second unit to match the one of the first. It would take a lot less time compared to the file transfer procedure (AIRDATA.AFD file).
