Thread: Not all Waypoints are created equal?

Not all Waypoints are created equal?

My AFS 5600 would not accept VC037 which is a Waypoint but it did accept VPOOP which is also a Waypoint. I am confused by why one and not the other.

JJ, it appears that VPOOP is a VFR stand alone waypoint. However, VC037 is collocated with a VFR checkpoint.

Interesting but I'd like to be able to plan a route at home using ForeFlight and it would help if I knew which navigational markers would work on the AFS.

Just a guess, but look at the section chart.

Hard to see in that photo, but VPOOP is a different symbol than VC037. I use one similar to VPOOP on a regular basis. But then I also use it in my GMA 430W. Rarely use the AFS boxes for nav. YMMV.

Looking in the data that the map files are based on I don't see any reference to VC037. Is there a "more info" page for this identifier?
