How to check oil temp sensor

On my last flight the oil temp registered between 117-134F. It was during a three hour cross country flight. Previous flight was 2.5 hours and oil temp was right below 180F. Before I install an oil cooler shutter how can I check the oil temp sensor to confirm it is registering correct temp? I have a dual AFS 4500 EFIS system.

The oil temp sensor is nothing but a resistor that changes according to temperature so they very rarely go bad. Most of the time the errors are attributable to your engine ground and the alternator ground path as well.

Sometimes is the probes ground itself:
