    ADSB/ Transponder

Having a 5600T EFIS, a Dynon remote transponder/ADSB 1090 out and use a 530 as the location/GPS for the 1090, I am curious, if I lose the 530 which would fail the ADSB out would I also lose the Transponder? The reason for the question is if the 530 is off, the transponder is red flagged and there is no way to know that I can see, to determine if I still have a working mode C transponder?

    Thanks, Larry

It should not be "red flagged" if you lose the GPS source. On power up the Transponder should be in ALT mode until you get a valid GPS position and then it should be in GND mode until you takeoff. I am assuming that you have conducted a FAA ADSB check and it passed it?
