    Wiring backup power

I'm using a second battery as backup for efis and also ess buss, I know there are different ways to wire this but wondering if the backup power should be hooked up all the time or switched as in with aux buss? Is there an advantage one over the other?

I recommend it being on its own switch that is separate from the master / avionics switches. The backup power needs to be present to the EFIS 15 seconds before power up to allow the display to boot faster.

You still want to turn it off for long term storage or maintenance (disconnecting the EFIS Expansion connector).
