    GPSS with VS

What is the best way to get the Vizion 385 to climb to the EFIS (4500) selected altitude? I routinely engage the autopilot while climbing out by pressing the mode button. It goes into GPSS and my current VS. It will climb right past my EFIS selected alt unless I disengage, level off then press the mode button (again) to get the GPSS VS.

you can set the altitude and vs on the vizion before takeoff and use the ap to control these when engaging it
then you can hit mode again and have the efis take over

If you set the vertical speed to zero or push the ALT button then the knob (enter) twice.

Or, if you use Alan's method, you can still push MODE to get GPSS on the climb out. Once the AP reaches the target altitude and enters altitude hold mode, it will automatically go into vertical steering mode.
