Software Update Failure on AFS 4000s

I have run into a problem during the software update of my AFS 4000s.

    The problem sequence is:
Backed up system to SD card in advance of update.
    Shut Master switch power.
Installed SD card with v8.8.12 files on.
    All in the root directory.

Applied mains power, and a series of error messages showed on the screen.
    As listed in the photo.

I have left the EFIS running for 30 minutes or so without any change.

The very odd problem I am faced with now is that the EFIS will not shut down at all.
I have turned off the master switch. Result no change, the screen stays on running on battery back up.
I have pressed button 2 for well more than 5 seconds and the EFIS will not turn off.

Your advice and assistance would be appreciated.

    Ian,

I had a similiar issue when I first installed my EFIS. By chance is your EBUS or another battery (other than the internal battery) connected to the backup power pin? If so, you'll need to install a switch to interupt the power feed.

    Thanks Bob,

I just sat down and re-read Rob's software update instructions.
The problem was PEBKAP - Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Person.
I was setting up the SD card the same as I did for my AF 3400, with all the files in the root directory.

On re-reading the instructions for the AF 4000s, I now note that some of the files are in the root and the rest are in the Subdirectory afs_install.

I have left my aircraft for the night, expecting the back up battery in the EFIS will run out, and here is hoping that a Re-start in the morning with the SD card with the correct file structure solves my problem.

    Problem now solved.

Downloaded the software update onto a Sandisk SD card.
Got the files in the correct format.

Note: Don't make the same mistake I did.
For the AF 3400 all the files are in the root directory.
For the AF 4000s and beyond they are not!

System now seems to be working as expected.
