First try a gyro set. With the aircraft stationary (not flying) hold the knob of the autopilot in for about 45 seconds. Let me know if the problem repeats.
Generally, you can set the activities on both axes at 2 or 3. If the plane is jumpy, try reducing the activity setting in the offending axis.
My apologies on the confusion regarding the form factors. Both the 380 and 385 are available in either the round or flat pack mounts. The 385 is the one that would be needed to replace an AFS...
No problem. Just let me know. Send me a PM if necessary to make sure I catch this.
You may need to speed the autotrim up a little bit.
Which version of software is your radio running? It displays the software version right at power up. Let me know. Thanks!
What is your GPSS gain setting?
Alan, your servos are most likely fine. Tom's servo was serviced in early 2012. His problem in the servo was caused by a broken roll pin inside the gear box. We identified an improperly sized hole...
An update wouldn't hurt. Call, PM or email me with your serial number. The last record I have under your name shows version 2.30 on a DII VSGV. I'll set you up with an RMA to send it in for...
Alan, what version of software do you have in the AP? What kind of bank angle are you seeing during turns?
While I can't help with the gain settings in the AFS, I can help with tuning the autopilot in stand alone mode which is where one should start to dial it in. Feel free to give me a call at the...
Give me a call with the serial number. I'll help you out. :) Thanks!
That's what I get for replying so late in the day. I already had brain shut down. :)
If you have the older autotrim with two switches, they'll both need to be moved to the same position...
This actually sounds like the pitch servo's trim sensor needs to be readjusted. The pot on the module only controls trim tab speed. Unfortunately your servo will need to be returned to us for the...
This sounds like an ARINC issue. The AFS Pilot will go into EFIS mode only when it sees both a lateral and vertical steering signal simulataneously. This can be caused by something as simple as the...
Send me a PM with your email address. I think I can get something that will work for you. Thanks!
You're pretty much correct, Bob. The displays were very troublesome to acquire. We're working very hard to meet our time target. :)
This only works once you're coupled to the glideslope on an approach. In the case of the VSGV, it can only be a GPS approach. So, if you're flying an ILS with the EFIS, the missed approach feature...
Just for clarification on the AP display nomenclature. EXT LS stands for EXTernal Lateral Steering. The large VS on the right side of the display stands for Vertical Steering. When you switch to...
Sorry about that, I just checked this today.
4.25" W x 1.563" H x 5.375" D* Depth does not include connector or pitot/staic block connections.
See if I can get this to work. :) I'm leaving it at full size so you can save as...

I'll chime in. If VS is less than ~500 fpm, the AP will go into Alt Hold mode. You have to being climbing or descending at a greater rate to synchronize to it.
One quick comment, depending on who made it and when the harness was made, the RS232 Tx line from the AP to the EFIS may not be there. It's pin 7 on the AP.
The DG does not rely on the magnetometer. It uses the RS232 input from a GPS receiver to display current GPS ground track.
The AFS Pilot does not have a GPS Nav mode. All other features are...
