I have a 5600 Touch Screen with uAvionix tail beacon. I receive ADS-B traffic on my display but when I try to get weather, ADS-B (and Wi-Fi) are grayed out. I've attached three, hopefully, helpful photos.

Had this happen when I updated to the 5500. Got traffic but not weather and Vic S helped out. Perhaps it isn't turned on? Look at this post on VAF. https://vansairforce.net/community/s...d.php?t=136604
I'll check the Set->Map for Weather tomorrow. I'll try to find the two places in CAL for the transponder code as well. The avionics guy at my old airport did much complaining about there being a shortage of serial ports. Is it possible that I need one serial port for traffic and yet another one for weather? If so, I'm probably out of luck for weather...Quote:

So it looks like you have "XMWX" or WXWorx XM Satellite Weather enabled in your settings. If you don't have the WxWorx receiver get that disabled it should be in Admin Settings -> WxWorx Configuration -> Connection Type -> Set to OFFLINE.
Next your picture shows that you aren't in contact with any ground stations so you have no weather being broadcast to your aircraft. All of your traffic is Air-To-Air. Also once you do have ground stations make sure that "NO RADAR" goes away otherwise you aren't broadcasting ADS-B out properly.

I'm not seeing that the tailBeacon is an ADS-B receiver. Do you possibly have some other device for ADS-B in?
I set the satellite weather to OFFLINE. That seemed to make the Map->WX live.Quote:

The uAvionix TailBeacon-TSO is indeed out only. When I purchased the plane used it had ADS-B IN from the factory and I had to add Out via the TailBeacon. I believe the IN comes from a Garmin GDL 39. Mike Gerken at Chesapeake Sport Pilot had several telephone conversation with Rob Portman about how to get the installed Garmin Aera 500 to send Traffic to the AFS 5600 screen. Is the problem that I need a separate serial connection for the 500 to send weather to the 5600?
I can send the PAPR PDF Report if that would help.
My gut is saying it seems like you are only getting the 1090 and not the 978 UAT. I'm not sure on the GDL-39 data path as it's a bit non-standard for us but it should be a dual band receiver. You might go check what "ADS-B In Capability" you have selected on the TailBeacon. Changing between 978 and 1090 may get the data coming in more reliably.
I'm guessing this will be found via SET->CAL. Can you please give me the rest of the path to this setting?Quote:

The wi-fi was locked up on my beacon. I received the replacement today. I'll let you know how Wx works after it is installed.Quote:

The ADSB button is to select a wired ADSB receiver, the wifi button is used to select an ADSB receiver that sends the adsb data on wi-fi. We have not tested a tail beacon with wi-fi, it might work.
Use Client Mode if you want the EFIS to connect to a Wi-Fi ADS-B Module that supports GDL90 data or a Wi-Fi Hotspot.
After changing the Wi-Fi mode you will need to power down and power up the EFIS for the changes to take effect.
NOTE:
You must have AF-5000 Software:Vx16.06.02-B01 or later to display nexrad weather on a sectional chart.
The tailBeacon's wi-fi is only used to connect to its' configuration. The reason I wanted to do that originally was to see if it was set for only 1090 as suggested in an earlier response from AFS. I could never answer that question since the wi-fi didn't work but on the new one, the beacon is set for 1090 & 978.Quote:

What Rob was saying is you need to select [WIFI] as your source not [XMWX] as that is for only for paid SiriusXM Weather subscriptions with a WxWorx Receiver. [WIFI] would be from your DRX. You will notice that the NXRD indicator will change titles once this selection is changed.
I don't have a DRX. It was sent back for credit after Rob told us it absolutely would not work despite Dynon emphatically assuring us it would. This was after I paid $4k to upgrade my 5600 to touch screen and wi-fi to use the DRX. Rob had many conversations with my avionics guy which is what got me as far as I have.Quote:

My plane has a Garmin GDL 39, Garmin Aera 500 and a Dynon D10 EMS. I've been told (no guarantee on the accuracy of this) that the 5600 gets GPS data from the Aera and Engine data from the D10. I have no idea how the ADS-B data gets to the 5600. I do know that I don't have an external GPS antenna. Apparently it is inside the consol. As part of the Aera 500 or GDL 39?
I'm trying to get ADS-B subscription free weather on the 5600.
This is not exactly correct, your avionics guy was trying to use the DRX as the GPS data source for the EFIS and I told him that would not work. The DRX would have worked to get ADSB weather and traffic on the EFIS. The most reliable way to get ADSB data is to use our wired Dynon SV-ADSB-472 receiver. The AF-5000 has 5 RS-232 serial ports, same as a Dynon Skyview. Email me a list of your current EFIS serial port settings.Quote:

JJ, yes email to support@advanced-flight-systems.com. If you take a screenshot of the SET--> CAL--> Admin Settings page with your phone, and email the picture, that is best.
