Interchangable Thermocouples?

I bought an RV-7 which was mostly built, engine and thermocouples. The original builder was planning on using Brand X (Dynon) and I have an AFS-4500s EE.

There are only two types of thermocouples, won't the AFS work with either type?

I hate the thought of having to spend hundreds of dollars and the hassle of changing these things.

Please Help.

We need ungrounded probes, Type K for EGT and Type J for CHT

Just to verify, I'm removing a Insight-GEM 602 engine monitor and replacing with AFS 4500. GEM says they use Type "K for EGT and type "J" for CHT. The thermocouple will be compatible, correct?

Their website says No.
