I have two 4500s and I do subscribe to the Map data. I want to begin IFR training so I will be adding the Charts option. Are IFR Low Alt charts, sectionals, and airport diagrams also available for the 4500?
Thanks,
Kevin

i also have 2 4500s(upgraded from 3500s) and had hoped to have low Alt IFR when making
the upgrade but unfortunately told it can't be put on the 4500s. I use an iPad(fore flight) for my IFR and sectional charts. I do use the approach plates on the 4500.

Alan,
Thanks for the response. I also use Foreflight, but so far only when I flew from WA to Airventure2012. Foreflight worked great for complete trip planning, sectional view and retrieving wx, whenever I could get internet connection. For all other flights, I use the AFS Map for reference driven by my 530W. I would prefer the sectional over the AFS Map data as it provides more useful information. I now have my Navworx's ADSB600B working properly and so I now get weather and traffic on my 4500 which eliminates my need for Foreflight for wx inflight, except for trip planning outside the airplane. I don't really mind having the IFR charts on my iPad for references purposes, but I want the approach plate loadable on the 4500.
I don't have my IFR rating yet, but will get back to training once I confirm that all my equipment is functioning as required and I am fully versed on the use of the 4500, 530W, and AFS Pilot for IFR flight. I'm trying to avoid having to throw yet another device, especially a portable one, into the mix. Once I feel like I have mastered the use of my present equip, I'll decide whether or not I want to upgrade to the 5000 series.
Kevin
We will soon have a solution, the new AF-5400T is a new AF-5000 with touch screen that mounts in the same hole as at the AF-3500 and AF-4500.
Kevin,
Another choice would be sell your 530 and buy an avidyne 540.Then you would have airways to program your flight plan. In the Northeast airways are still a must IFR. The approach plates work well on the 4500.
Alan
It is desinged to be an upgrade, we use your bezel, buttons, knobs, and engine board. It will have a new High Resolution touch screen (1024 x 768) and the new AF-5000 CPU.
.... and it will have video support for movies and a Flir Camera.
We are currently working on pricing...
sounds interesting!
hope it is priced right.

Will the AF-5400T have all the buttons like the new 5000 units to make it easy
To go directly to the screen you want?
