Does it have RS232 or USB?

it also has rs232 input/output

outputs GDL90 format

outputs GDL90 format

If it is Serial RS-232 GDL90 format it should work.

We have not tested it.

The installed version with air data is supposed to be out in a couple weeks. They are based about 10 min from me, so I'll let you know if it works as soon as I can get my hands on one.

The ilevil can also accept engine data if it's output in their format. It looks like GRT already support it http://www.aviation.levil.com/iLevil.htm. After watching this http://www.eaavideo.org/video.aspx?v=2274677932001 I now see the value of a CHT/EGT graph view that shows how they are changing over time, so I was thinking of incorporating that into an ipad app or it would be great if that was a view option on the EFIS for the engine display.

It looks like the Levil is using the Chelton data format from the GRT EMS, the AF-5000 system will also send the Chelton data format from a serial port.

Perfect! You might want to contact them and get listed on their website as a compatible system.

perhaps an GDL90/Chelton option for serial config?

i see that the dual ads-b works with grand rapids egis through
usb port.

Your AF-4500 does not have a USB port.

all these different interfaces are pretty ridiculous, the industry (on the experimental side at least) should really develop common standards instead of having to implement 100 different protocols for every possible device. I noticed that iLevil outputs everything from air to engine to ADS-B data all over the GDL90 protocol.

just FYI - I have one of these in my hands now and I'll be trying it out this weekend to check the ADS-B and engine data.

what is the baud rate for the GDL90 protocol? It should be set to traffic, correct?

Where are you seeing a setting for Traffic in the GDL90 format? We have settings for 57K and 115K

Nothing is specifically listed as GDL90 format, that's why I was asking. I am going to try it tomorrow with ADSB 115K

I have verified that engine data is working with the iLevil AW. I am still having some ADS-B issues though and I will send in data logging sometime this week.

ADS-B is working, but only on the aux out, so you can't have engine data and ADS-B at the same time. The issue is that the baud rate for serial 1 on the ilevil is 230400. In order to work completely either the ilevil baud rate would have to be lowered, which is probably not a good idea because it also provides AHRS data on that port or AFS would have to add a 230K ADSB option
