Hello,

I have an AFS3500 dating from 2008. What are the upgrade options open to me that do not require a rework of my panel or harness?

Thanks for your help.

I have a 3500EF and a 3500EM. If I upgrade the 3500EF to a 5400, will it display data from the 3500EM and will the EM display data from the 5400 please?

I don't think there is any option that won't require a panel mod. Unfortunately the hole size is different for any of the 5000 series. The good news is that AFS has been real good with keeping the pin assignments the same. You will have some things to change in the harness with the implementation of the SV-Network. If you buy the cables from AFS, the harness work will be minimal.

AFS had and believe they still do a 5400 that was designed to fit into the 3500/4500 hole in the panel and is part of the 5000 series.

The AF-5400 can be built in panel or tray mount like our AF-3500 and AF-4500 displays. This allows them to fit in the existing hole in the panel.

If you want to save cost on the EFIS and can modify the panel here is a drawing that shows the difference between a panel and tray mounted AF-5400 and an AF-5500.
