Hi Everyone,

I have enjoyed flying behind my DUAL AFS screens (3400 non S) for the past two years though today had a problem with the EFIS. :( The AHRS looked like it was trying to work though after a number of instances in flight, I have the BIG RED 'X' now on the screen with no associated AHRS data. Interesting my last flight was on a 37degC day though there were no issues experienced for that flight.

Just wonder if anyone has some pointers for me and or if there has been any other problems with the AHRS over the years?

Cheers, Greg Blakey (Australia)

Check the wiring to the Magnetometer, also try it with the Magnetometer disconnected.

Thanks Rob, Will take a look tomorrow and confirm wiring end to end. WHat indication should I expect with the Magnetometer disconnected. Currently have no heading or attitude information on the EFIS. All other Data (Pitot/static...temps etc) working ok.

Thanks again for your support....much appreciated :-)

Looks like I may have an intermittent fault :-( After returning to the Hangar, everything fired up ok. Suspect this would not be a wiring fault as on S/D it was showing no AHRS. Checked a number of times after that flight. Two days later fired up the screen and it has all worked ok.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with their AHRS over time. My unit has been in service for 1.5 years though was purchased with my screens some 5-6 years ago.

A little disconcerting especially if NVFR/IFR.

Cheers, Greg

I'm not sure I would be so quick to rule out a wiring problem. What about an intermittent open or short? An intermittent open due to a vibrating wire can be a real PITA to find.
