View Full Version : PocketFMS installation

Hi Rob,

Can you you give us some installation info regarding the long awaited PocketFMS?

I downloaded the newest version 2.04 and started experimenting to get things working.

First, I just replaced the file AFSMAPEU.AFM by the file PocketFMS generated, which is AF2MAPFM.AFM
The two other files, AF2TEREU.AFM (jan 14 2011) and AF2VECEU.AFM (jan 24 2011) are left on the SD cards.
When I start the efisses up, I get a message: NO MAPFILE.

Second, I renamed the AF2MAPFM.AFM file to AFSMAPEU.AFM, hoping that it would start up better now.
Unfortunately, the message I now get is: 'MAPFILE TOO NEW'.

Restoring the SD cards to the previous version with the Jeppesen cards gets everything running again, but I hope you can give me some directions how to get PocketFMS working.

Another question: what happens when the left screen has the Jepp database, and the right screen has the PocketFMS database?

Best regards,

Victor Kruis.

Hi Rob.

Just to let you know - there are more people in Europe using the PocketFMS (PFMS) system. I would also be very interested in getting this to work on my two AFS EFIS. Talked to PFMS today and Rob over there (funny, same name) said that he did not know anything about the AFS required format of this MAP file. So I would like Victor need to know exactly how to prep the SD card for my EFIS.

Regards from Sweden

The Pocket FMS mapping has been fully implemented for our AF5500/AF5600 systems. We will have a version of the 3400s/3500s/4500s code that will support the PocketFMS mapping very shortly.

Oh great, another "short" wait.
Can we have a date please?

Ken is currently working on it, should only be a few days for the AF-4500.

I just installed the latest beta version 8.08.02, replaced AFSMAPEU.AFM with the PocketFMS file from my laptop (AF2MAPFM.AFM) and everything seems to work. The weather was not good enough to go flying, but here is a screenshot:

If weather permits, I'll go flying next weekend.

Success as well :-)
Congratulations! Great job :-)

rename AF2MAPFM.AFM from the export directory to AF2MAPEU.AFM.
