As a new user of an AF5600, I'm working through the "buttonology" learning process. As I'm learning things, I'm hoping to make checklists to hopefully help insure I don't forget something the next time. Has anyone already developed procedure lists that perhaps I could use? What I'm looking for is a listing of the things I'll need to do to correctly fly a specific approach type. I have an AF5600, a GTN650, and a Trutrak AP (DFII VSGV), but I suspect the checklists might be similar even with differing equipment. Here's a start of a list (and yes I probably have errors/omissions so if you spot something please let me know.)

ILS Approach - Vectors to Final - Intercepting less than 30 degrees
1. Load approach and Activate in GTN650
2. Set EFIS Hdg Bug and Alt Bug for intercept
3. Set AP to L-ARM and V-ARM
4. Engage Autopilot
5. Confirm NAV Freq loaded and ID'd
6. Set CRS knob (OBS) to inbound course
7. Set 650 CDI to L-Nav
8. Set EFIS CRS to V-NAV

This is what I do:

ILS Approach - Vectors to Final - Intercepting less than 30 degrees

1. -D-> Destination Airport and activate on the GTN650
This tells the EFIS what the destination airport is so it can load the Approach plate list.

2. EFIS CRS to GNAV1 (should already be set)

3. Load Approach Plate on EFIS

4. Set Minimums Alt on EFIS ( get from approach plate)

5. Set EFIS Hdg Bug and Alt Bug for current heading and altitude

6. Turn on AP so it is following the EFIS (ARM Mode, LAT and VERT)

7. Select Approach and Transition (VECTORS) on the GTN 650 and activate

8. Confirm NAV Freq loaded and ID'd

9. Set CRS knob (OBS) to inbound course

10. Set GTN650 CDI to NAV

11. Set HDG and ALT bug to intercept ( must be less than 45 deg and under Glide Slope)

Thanks Much! I like what you have.

Might you have a corresponding list for a GPS approach with a specific transition?

Thanks
