Hey Trevor, is HITS available yet? We saw it at Oshkosh on the 5600 display, and was told it was out.

what is HITS?
Could not come to Oshkosh. Some details of the new features would be great!

Highway in the sky.

HITS is Highway In The Sky. Rather than following a flight director, you can follow boxes we draw on the screen of your navigation route. Many people find it more simplistic to fly than a flight director. To turn it on with the new Ver 8 software, press EFIS -> AD/FD -> then cycle the last button between FD/HITS OFF, FD/HITS ON, FD ON, HITS ON.

Trevor,
I noticed the HITS does not work with an ILS. For safety reasons people should turn the HITs off when doing an ILS approach. Will there be a HITs for the ILS?

Correct, HITS only works with the internal flight planning feature using a GPS. At this time it is not working for a ground-based NAVAID.

Does it work using 530 supplying the GPS signal, or strictly with the 4500 supplying the GPS. Does it work with GPS approaches??

It does indeed work when a GNS-4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx is supplying the GPS data. It does not yet work with GPS approaches however it does draw a user defined glide-angle from a selected runway at the waypoint.

I wish I could figure out how to make that function work! I watched Rob do it in OSH, but now that I'm back home, I can make the HITS work but can't figure out how to set up the user
defined glide angle. Patiently awaiting the instructions and "how to"!

you need to go to flight plan page and enter the glide slope angle.

How do you navigate to the Flight Plan page? Desperately needing a guide...
