I was flying at 3000 MSL feet. About 6 miles ahead and to my about 3 or 4 oclock were a group of hills and mountains about 2300MSL. These did not show on the EFIS synthetic vision. Is this because I was above them???

The SVN looks a max of 6 miles ahead so it could be that you were just on the ragged edge of that distance.

Trevor,
I have a 330 Transponder. Traffic shows up on my map but not on the synthetic vision. Is it supposed to?

Ken is working on a way to make the install a little more fool-proof and then it will be ready. Should be up by the end of the day.

Hi Alan, we have tested traffic with the new software extensively. What are you using as a traffic output device? Zaon XRX, GTX-330, ADS-B?

gtx-330

Alan, how close to the traffic were you?

5 miles or about

The range is about 10 miles for traffic display on the SVN within a 30degree view cone. If you saw it on the map, but not on the SVN, it could be that it wasn't getting an accurate Altitude. Our software team informed me that if they just get a position but not an accurate altitude, it can't draw it on the SVN.

ok,
I'll try another flight and see if the traffic appears. I think the traffic might have been behind me.

I flew on Sunday and we pasted a 172 400 feet above us and 1/2 mile to the right. Saw a yellow diamond in the exact location on the efis as in the sky AFS rocks!!!

Trevor,
What is the purpose of the AGL under the VSI?

Since we have an accurate terrain database for the SVN, we are now able to provide AGL information. Think of it as a radar altimeter...minus the radar.
