I have a 3500 in my Sportsman that's almost 4 years old where I now have to reset the clock every time I start up. Sometimes is shows up as 4:00 and other times 12:00. Is it time to change the battery or is there something else going on here?

Yes, it sounds like your clock battery is dead. It is a little button cell in the top of the unit, under a small access plate. We can send one to you along with instructions on how to replace it. You can also fly your aircraft here if you are local and we can do it, or ship the unit back to us. Whatever is easiest for you! Please e-mail me so I can get your mailing address and e-mail address to send the instructions to.

A very timely reminder. I will close the front skin on my "slow build" RV9A on Tuesday. Put new clock batteries in both screens today while it was still easy to access the top.

Hi.

On my 3500 the clock slows down approx 5 minutes per month. Could this be a sign that the clock battery schould be changed? It doesn't sound logical to me....?

The 3500 is was bought Spring 2006.

Hello, 5 minutes in a month is not an abnormal deviation. We are planning on implementing a correction factor each time the unit gets valid GPS signal since Zulu time is broadcast through the satellites.

Just be careful about that clock battery. I lost all my settings when I replaced it. Don't know what I did wrong...

We always suggest customers do a full backup of their system files before making any hardware changes or performing software updates. I hate having to tell customers they must recalibrate their fuel tanks after settings are lost due to a software update gone wrong!
