I recently received the ethernet cable for my advanced decks and it is quite a bit longer than it needs to be since they are right next to each other in my installation. Is this a standard ethernet cable? If so I will look into getting a shorter version. The only reason I ask is that it is labeled "crossover wiring".

If this is non-standard wiring for an ethernet cable, what special requirements does this introduce when using an ethernet hub required for XM weather?

Hi Noah, a crossover cable is typically used when you're directly connecting two devices (otherwise you have the Tx pin on each plug connected to the other, rathe rthan Tx -> Rx). If you're using a hub then you'd prob'ly use a straight-thru cable. I made my own crossover cable - it's easy, instructions for both straight-thru and crossover cables are at http://www.duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/cable/cable5.htm
