Hi All,

I thought this was discussed earlier but I am unable to find the post(s).

I've a single 4500-EE, 430W, AFS-Pilot, and the ARINC adapter.

Is the ARINC source switch for the AFS-Pilot still "a good thing" even with the AFS version of firmware in the autopilot?

What are the benefits of having the ARINC source switch installed?

Thank you,

It is a good idea to have just in case you were to loose the EFIS. The autopilot would then be controlled directly from the 430W.

Hi Trevor,

Am I correct in assuming that if the 430 were driving the A/P that I'd still have all the functionality as if the EFIS were dirving the A/P? If not, what would I lose?

Thank you,

You would have most of the features. The AP has a heading mode and I believe an altitude hold mode. So it would do the same thing, more or less, but would take more button pushing than with the EFIS controlling it.
