Does the remote comm radio require the connection of the panel control head? I would like to install the radio and control it through either EFIS without the panel control head.

Thanks

It does require a connection to the control head but it wouldn't need to be mounted on the panel. I have some customers that have mounted them for rear seat control, or in door panels.

No actual installation manual for it (or user manual), rather they are contained within the Skyview Installatuon Manuel and the User Manual. It mentions the Skyview network, without having to read the whole install manual (it doesn't describe how the Skyview connection is made in the section on the SV-Com), how do I connect it to the AFS (I have the 5400). I assume it is via a serial port. I currently only have spare ports available on my MFD...will that work?

It connects via the SV Network to the 5400.

I don't know what the SV network is? Is that an RS232 connection to an available port on the AF-5400? Can I put it on the MFD (since I have no available ports on my PFD)?

The AF-5000 R7 EFIS Expansion harness has the connections for the SV-Network
