Are the settings for the GTN 650 supposed to be?

RS-232 1 In FADC Format 1, Out Aviation Output 1
RS-232 2 In Off, Out ADS-B +
RS-232 3 In Off. Out Off

Is the Transponder setting 17. ADS-B In Frequency supposed to be 1090 ES, UAT only or Both. For ADS-B On & Out

My wiring set up is as follows:

AFS 5800 Component Data Format Data Source
Serial 1 GTN 650 AVTN/FADC1
Serial 2 AFS AP AF-PILOT
Serial 3 TXP SV261 AFS XPDR
Serial 4 ARINC AFS ARINC

AFS 4500 Component Data Format Data Source
Serial 1
Serial 2
Serial 3 ADS-B AF-ADSB
Serial 4 AF GPS

GTN 650 RS 232 RX In 1 P1001-27 Aviation Data AFS 5800 10
GTN 650 RS 232 TX Out 1 P1001-8 Aviation Data AFS 5800 22 & AF TXP 3

Thanks
Frank

Setting 17 should be UAT only

The rest looks good.

Thanks Rob,

It looks like I should split the RS 232 Out from a single output to two?
GTN 650 Out 1 for AF 5800
GTN 650 Out 2 for TXP Pin P1001-3 to TXP pin 3

Thanks
Frank

Thanks Rob, but that drawing does not include a GTN - TXP connection. I did find the file below, which I downloaded yesterday but can't seem to find again. I will try this on the GTN Serial 2 Out.

What is the TXP connection?

From the drawing:
GTN-650>>>>Transponder
P1001-6 >>> 3

Based on what I have read I was going to go with RS-232 Out 2 on the GTN, with setting as RS-232 2 In Off, Out ADS-B +

GTN-650>>>>Transponder
P1001-7 >>> 3

Rob, can I display TIS traffic on GTN? , should I also wire ...
GTN-650>>>>AF Transponder
P1001-26 >>> 7

Or will the GTN get traffic from the connection to the 5800?

No, the Transponder data is not compatible with the GTN650 TIS format.

It should not matter which serial port you use in the GTN650. I was confused because you said "Thanks Rob, but that drawing does not include a GTN - TXP connection"

We have wired a lot of GTN650's with the Transponder to the EFIS using that drawing without any problems.

Make sure you use the resistor in the GTN to Transponder wire!!

Ok, got it.

I was referring to the drawing on page 293 of the manual that you had referenced in your answer. That one does not show the connection of the AF TXP to the GTN. It might be good to add the connection to that drawing...

Thanks
Frank

Now I see what I did, it is page 292. Page 293 shows how to connect the transponder to an EFIS without a GPS Navigator.
