AF-5000 Series Support

AFS engineers have spent over 2,000 hours and counting of actual flight time in VFR and IFR conditions to develop a superior pilot interface.

To keep up with software, with new features, updates and development. Why not check back every 28 days when you update your map databases.

Documents below will need a PDF viewer like Adobe Reader.

System Software

Software updates for the AF-5000 will be posted on this page as they become available. Keeping your EFIS installed with the latest software will ensure you have the latest features, improvements, and bug fixes.

We always recommend having a backup of all system files. Backing up before installing software is a great time to update your backups.

If you have any problems or issues with these processes please contact Advanced Flight Support.

Be sure to download and read our Software Installation Instructions before continuing.

After Installation Information

  • When updating 74109 transponder software you MUST power cycle the transponder when prompted.
  • If you see SV-NETWORK NEEDS UPDATE enter calibration with SET -> Hold CAL -> Advanced SV Network. Power up any OFFLINE device such as servos then press UPDT.
  • Verify your Serial Port #0 is set properly with SET -> Hold CAL -> Admin Settings -> Port #0
    • If you have an AF-AHRS (Red Box) or XBOW AHRS (Gold Magnetometer) use AHRS Function to select the installed device.
    • Also if you found the setting to be incorrect also verify the AHRS Module Config setting.
  • Verify your AOA Source on ALL displays are set properly with SET -> Hold CAL -> Admin Settings -> AOA Module Config.
    • If the AOA tubes run into the SV-ADAHRS select HW: SV-NET
    • If the AOA tubes run into the EFIS select HW: WING
    • If the AOA tubes run into a different EFIS select HW: OFF NET: RXD
  • Verify that you have loaded the latest mapping database if Mapping is installed.
  • Verify that ARINC Version 4.0 is installed if an AF-ARINC (sliver) adapter is installed in aircraft.
  • After upgrading verify that your settings have not been altered.

I have read the after installation information above and would like to download the software:

Hardware Upgrades

Devices get better! With the ever changing nature of display technology the AF-5000 series will continue to evolve and grow. Upgrades allow your display to be updated with our latest improvements.

If you are interested in upgrades be sure to give us a call at 503-263-0037 x 2 or e-mail

CPU

The CPU upgrade allows the use of Wi-Fi and Video Capture modules as well as the ability to add a touch screen.

Who can upgrade?

  • Use [CHECK] -> [ABOUT] -> [SYSTEM] to see if your system is running OS: 1

SV Network

SV Network allows the display to interface with SV network modules such as the; AF-COM Radio, 74200/1 SV-ADAHRS, SV-Servos, Autopilot Control Panel, Knob Control Panel, SV-ARINC-429, and others. These devices are on a dedicated network that allows for easy expansion and module upgrades.

Running out of serial ports? The SV Network allows your panel to free up serial ports by using alternative devices such as SV-ADHARS or SV-ARINC in place of serial based devices.

Who can upgrade?

  • Use [CHECK] -> [ABOUT] -> [SYSTEM] to see if your system has BB: 6 or lower
    • If you are running OS: 1 you will need the CPU upgrade as well

Touch Screen

Touch Screen's can be added to improve the speed of the user interface through touch pages and drop down lists. Future software updates will utilize the touch functionality extensively.

Who can upgrade?

  • Use [CHECK] -> [ABOUT] -> [SYSTEM] to see if your system has OS: 5
    • If you are running OS: 1 you will need the CPU upgrade as well
  • Use [CHECK] -> [ABOUT] -> [SYSTEM] to see if your system has BB: 7
    • If you are has BB: 6 or lower you will need the baseboard upgrade as well

Dimensions

Ensure that "Fit to page" is not checked or "Actual" size is checked when printing. After printing verify with hatch marks on the edge of page with a inch scale. If you are having trouble with alignment or scale save the document to your device and re-open in Adobe Reader.

Wiring

To check which hardware revision you have on your display use [CHECK] -> [ABOUT] -> [SYSTEM] to find your BB: #.

Internal AF-EMS Wiring

SV-EMS-22X Wiring

SkyView EMS Module

The SV-EMS-22X Module provides the interface between displays and the engine & aircraft sensors. It allows the system to continuously monitor all power plant and aircraft systems in a highly automated manner. The EMS Module integrates up to 16 different types of gauges all in one highly compact design. Any parameter falling outside its predefined limits are automatically brought to the attention of the pilot for immediate remediation. Safety is enhanced two fold; first, by reducing the pilot's workload and secondly by early detection and notification of foreseen trouble.
